For instance I've seen some orange GBA SP's that claimed to be AGS-101, but it was a custom build model. If you're fine with that go for that. You can pick up some in different colors that way, but if you want the officially release Nintendo GBA SP's the AGS-101 (brighter backlit) model they came in Pearl Blue, Pearl Pink, and Graphite.
Any Pastel coloured GBA SP is normally a 101, and the solid colours are 001. So if you're looking for a 101, Pink, Baby blue, and Steel Grey are 101's. :) Tip for scouting eBay. If on the picture the screen is off and its black its a 101 if its grey/greenish its a 001.
Yes an AGB-101 is more expensive than an AGS-101, but the cost is spread out instead of all at once. AGBs are much more customizable. I have no idea why, but AGS shells are only available in some factory colors (even though they are repros) whereas AGB shells are available in significantly more colors, including transparent and glow in the dark

dakaister. • 5 yr. ago. I think it’s true, I don’t think flame red has 101 screenunless if you get a reshell one. Standard ags-101 are dark grey, light blue, and light pink. At least these are the most common ones in the US. Other region might have different color ones: 2. aRush_. • 5 yr. ago.

l9W9KY3. It's a mod using the frontlight module from the Gameboy Advance SP model AG-001, all you need to do the mod is a light unit probably ripped from an SP, some pliers, a soldering iron, a 47kOhm resistor, some wires, and some common sense.
Our starting lineup was as follows: Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, GBA SP (Two Black, One Silver of different ages), GBA SP (AGS-101 Bright edition), Gameboy Micro, DS, DS lite, DSi, DSi XL, 3DS
Game Boy Advance. Nintendo’s first 32-bit system in handheld format. In addition to the change to a landscape format, the system also added L and R buttons. Like the Game Boy Color, the Game Boy Advance was fully backwards compatible and can play all official Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. Some later Game Boy Color games even added Game
Checked F1, F2 and EM8 with a multimeter, that seems to be ok. Also tried a working battery from an other GBA-SP. Really puzzled currently! First owner, and the SP still looks pretty mint overall. Haven't turned it on for years, but same story for my AGS-001, which still works fine.

IPS Cons: Uses more battery, some colors are washed out. (Refer to first photo, AGS-101 Purple GBA has better Blue's) AGS-101 is more true to the original gameboy and made for every game. It just doesn't have as nice of a viewing angle or as bright and vivid as the IPS.I said my screen looked more like the one on the left.
